Inspired by the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. The Musical covers Hamilton’s time as an American Founding Father and his participation in the American Revolution and the economic history of early U.S.A.. Through to Hamilton's untimely death by Vice President Aaron Burr in a duel.
The production debuted in 2015, the production went on to win 8 Drama Desk Awards, 11 Tony Awards from 18 nominations, and the Pulitzer Prize in 2016.
Miranda and the cast of Hamilton seek to tell the tale of "America then, as told by America now." To do so, the production places black and Hispanic actors as the American Founding Fathers and other high profile roles.
