Frozen – The Musical is coming to Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts, get the whole family ready! Your little ones may have been obsessed with Elsa and the gang for years now, but you are not sure if the play is worth it for the adult members of your family? Well, let us shed some light! According to critics, Frozen' hits Broadway, in ‘a sophisticated dignified adult psychological' way. The creators of the most popular animated film of all time aren't just simply ‘letting it go’ — they've written a dozen new songs for a very sold-out theatrical adaptation. The sets are striking and elaborate, and the costumes bring the world of Arendelle to life. Of course, the highlight in terms of theatrics has to be “Let It Go,” which involves Elsa’s dress reveal just as does in the film. It’s a striking moment that is even even better in real life. And what makes it even more amazing is the added effect of the “snow” fall, which covers the entire audience with white flakes. So, rest assured, Frozen – The Musical will be a night to remember for the whole family! Book your tickets now!
When Frozen: The Musical premiered in the Buell Theatre in August 2017, critics didn’t know what to say. Even after mixed reviews, the general agreement was that the show had huge potential. The Denver Post wrote that it was “Fun but not transporting”. Some critics wondered if the songs could really hold up the expansion of the story quite like the original score did, especially when the score expanded from 8 songs to 20. While reviews felt that the play was a little padded in parts, it was clear to all that Disney Theatrical Productions may have hit gold on the project. That’s why Michael Grandage was called in to help uplift the production during its current Broadway tour. The show tells the story of Elsa and Anna in a story of sacrifice and true love with an evocative winter imagery that manages to capture the magic of the animated film. Original composers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez returned to bolster the plot expansions with fresh music. Altogether, Disney Theatrical Productions took the reviews to heart and created a stunning experience that will be enjoyed for generations.
