The Musical honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, conceptualized and scored by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, basing it off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It centers on the historical life of Hamilton himself in a ‘hipper’ format, being close to the truth behind his life but with creative direction and musical styles that makes Hamilton very entertaining. The Musical actually began off Broadway in August of 2015 and was immediately met with impressive reviews from its premier. As well as a number of press articles and reviewers, The Washington Post, called it “making ecstatic history”, as the Musical’s premiere with its impressive cast including the likes of the musical's creator Miranda himself in the title role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, astounded audiences in its debut with a vibrant production. Hamilton went on over the next decade to collect eleven Tony Awards from sixteen nominations, in addition to Olivier, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Awards.
Since it began in 2015, Hamilton has since traveled to be performed in lots of entertainment venues around the globe, where it has been getting continuously positive reviews. BroadwayWorld calls The production “the hottest ticket in town”, as it appeals to a bigger range in audience due to it being accessible to both the more seasoned audiences who were interested in the history behind the production, and the newer generations that wanted the exciting and innovative concept behind this production. Across in the U.K.'s London’s West End, TimeOut had concerns over Hamilton being overblown, but that “Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests”. Even just recently with a touring cast in its Manila, Philippines’ performance, PEP PH describes Hamilton as a “visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the narrative”; “This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience, and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage”, they add.
Magazine critics and viewers alike agree that Hamilton is a must-see this winter as it continues its runs all over America.
